A unique collaboration of creative spirits
Marlow-based Bee Skelton studied fine art at the Cyprus College of Art and the Open College of the Arts in the UK. Her paintings often feature the towns, villages and Thames river valley and landscapes near where she lives.
Her paintings are commissioned and included in private collections internationally, including the USA, Canada, Singapore, France, Holland, Denmark, Cyprus, South Africa and the UK.
Bee was born and brought up in Lancashire and later lived in Buckinghamshire before moving to Cyprus. Her home and studio are now firmly established back in Marlow, where she creates what she calls ‘happy’ paintings, and she has become renowned for her signature ‘topsy-turvy’ style.
Bee paints in a colourfully quirky, contemporary and naive style, telling stories that make people smile; her aim is to permanently capture people’s happy memories of their favourite places, towns, landscapes, family and friends. She works mainly in acrylics and ink on wood panels and canvas.

'Marlow Bridge'
Bee’s painting ‘Marlow Bridge’, illustrated on the Modern Art Distillery bottle label, is a painting she made during Covid.
She describes it as a unique time for everyone, when life altered in many ways. The style of her work changed – becoming more direct and almost childlike. Bee says the reassuring permanence of Marlow’s iconic bridge, rendered simply in bright colours, felt joyful at that difficult time.
